Dad and mom who need to break generational trauma and untruths, hear up! It’s time for a refresher on one of many oldest (and most false) mother or father phrases that we’ve been telling children for years — “They tease you as a result of they like you!”
Nope. Completely not.
Dad and mom should be very cautious about how they body conditions surrounding bullying and teasing amongst kids since you will be rattling positive they may take no matter they hear with them into maturity.
TikTok consumer @jfabfindingauthenticity posted a now-viral video, sharing a second between herself, her daughter, and her personal mother the place she needed to step in and break some poisonous generational chains surrounding this matter.
“I picked my eight-year-old daughter up from artwork camp at present. She shared with me that there is been a boy on the camp that is been bullying her all week. So, she stated at present that he was portray and he had hand paint throughout his arms. When the trainer requested him to go to the toilet to scrub his arms, he walked as much as my daughter and rubbed his arms throughout her hair. He then gave her the loser signal and caught his tongue out at her,” the OP shared.
She dealt with the state of affairs accordingly. She and her daughter talked it out and all gave the impression to be okay.
Later that day, the OP says her daughter wished to share the story concerning the boy from artwork camp along with her grandma (the OP’s mother).
“So my mother says, ‘Have you learnt why he did that?’ And my daughter says, ‘Why?’ And my mother says with an enormous smile, ‘As a result of he likes you.’”
That’s when the OP instantly stepped and righted this incorrect.
“I instantly lower her off. I stated, ‘No! We’re not educating my eight-year-old daughter that when a boy treats you want sh*t, it signifies that he likes you,’” she recalled.
“She will not be studying that rubbish. After which I launched into the true cause why children bully. He feels unseen at dwelling in some capability, and he is internalized that. He does not like himself very a lot. So he must make different individuals really feel unhealthy about themselves so he feels higher.”
“This is identical cause why grown-ups are abusive. They do not like themselves, they usually really feel entitled to take it out on you. It is not as a result of they such as you. In actual fact, it has nothing to do with you,” she concluded.
“Watch out about what nonsense you are conditioning your kids to just accept,” she wrote within the caption of the video.
After her video gained traction, a number of TikTok customers commented and thanked her for reiterating that “abuse will not be affection.”
“THANK YOU! Everybody must be educating their kids that abuse is NOT affection,” one consumer wrote.
“I hated being instructed that after I was a baby. It’s so dismissive,” one other stated.
One consumer commented, “So glad you’re advocating to your daughter — and having robust conversations together with your mother. Hopefully, she is going to take into consideration what you stated and begin to join the dots. 🥰”
We have to train our youngsters their value. That begins at dwelling with dad and mom who train their children that teasing, undesirable bodily contact, verbal insults, or anything that makes them really feel lower than is not (in any approach, form, or type!) a approach of expressing love!
